Adaptation of farming fertilization to several stress situations.

Across that Line of Investigation, we are trying to examine the answer of the plants to the interaction between the development of some different kinds of stress and the fertilisation that has been carried out, both from the perspective of the basic investigation and from the perspective of the applied investigation.

Regarding the basic investigation, our Team has got involved in the study of some questions that despite the fact that their consideration is specially interesting in the current agriculture when it is about optimising the fertilization using the most modern technical means, they have paradoxically been paid very little attention until this moment; that has generate an obvious lack of coordination between the available means and scientific knowledge on the subject.

Between all these questions it is important to underline the work carried out in the study of the influence and effects of nitrogen fertilisation in tomato plants, fruit of which was presented by the Dr. Sources in September of 2000 the Doctoral Thesis: "Influence of Nitrogen on the hydric relations of tomato plants subjected to moderate hydric stress of long duration", and diverse works in scientific magazines of recognized prestige have been published.

As for the application research in relation with this subject, a Project destined to the design of products that tend to reduce the effect of salinity on farming. This Project has a double objective; on one hand to study the possibility of designing products of fertilizing and/or bio stimulating character of proved effectiveness in the diminution of the effects of the salinity on the plants and, on the other hand, to deepen in the knowledge of the mechanisms of action of this kind of products, establishing objective parameters in which to base its agronomical quality, in order to optimise its use in diverse conditions and to count on tools with which establish quality scales.
